MagicInfo Installation Guide

Everything a technician needs to put content on Samsung smart signage screens (QBR series) — from a fresh Windows laptop to a screen playing a schedule. Short steps, real screenshots, honest warnings.

Which path do I need?

There are two ways to run content on these screens. Decide first — it changes which pages you follow.

SERVER MODE — RECOMMENDED

MagicInfo Server (free, self-hosted)

A free program on any Windows 11 PC on the same network. Manage screens from a browser, upload content, publish schedules remotely. Includes 25 free Lite device licenses — more than enough.

  • The PC does not need to run 24/7 — screens download content to internal storage and keep playing with the server off.
  • Follow pages 1 → 2 → 3 in order.
USB MODE — NO SERVER

USB stick only

No PC, no network needed. Play files from a USB stick or the screen's internal memory, with simple daily time slots set by remote control.

  • Fine for 1–2 screens whose content rarely changes.
  • No remote management — every change is a site visit.
  • Follow page 4 only (plus the physical setup part of page 3).
Rule of thumb: if the client wants to change content from an office, use Server mode. If the screen will loop the same menu or poster for months, USB mode is enough.

The five facts technicians forget

Write down the PostgreSQL password.

The MagicInfo installer asks for it, and there is no way to recover it later.

The console address is case-sensitive.

http://<server-ip>:7001/MagicInfo — capital M, capital I. Lowercase gives an error page.

The two rods in the screen box are stand feet, not antennas.

They twist-lock into the bottom slots. Wi-Fi antennas are internal — nothing screws onto the back.

On the screen, address and port are separate fields.

Server Address gets the IP only (e.g. 192.168.1.50), Port gets 7001. Never paste a full URL into the address field.

Screens keep playing when the server is off.

Content and schedules download to the screen's internal storage. The server only needs to be on when publishing changes.
