Connect the QM65C to MagicInfo Server

Point the QM65C at the self-hosted MagicINFO 9 server and approve it in the console. The server itself is the two Server setup pages. Running this model without a server is USB Mode on the QM65C.

Compatibility

Server version requirements

MagicINFO 9 builds 21.1091.1 and later support C-series screens (per Samsung's release notes). The free Lite licenses exist in MagicINFO 9 alongside paid Unified licenses, and the QM65C has the on-screen MagicInfo Mode → Lite switch. Typical first registration: the screen registers, the console reports "Not enough licenses" while the screen is in Premium mode — switch it to Lite (steps below).
Update firmware first: Samsung's release notes require displays to run the latest firmware to work with this server version. A new-in-box unit may ship with firmware a year old — update before connecting (⚙ SETTINGS → Support → Software Update → Update Now with the screen online, or via USB from Samsung's download page for QM65C).
Before you start

Checklist

Server PC is on, console reachable

Open http://<server-ip>:7001/MagicInfo from another machine on the same network. Capital M, capital I.

The 7001 firewall rule from the server install is in place

That single rule covers registration, approval and content download on this server version — full port details are in the server install page's "Firewall + the server's IP" section. Nothing extra is needed for the QM65C.

Screen is on Ethernet with an address

Prefer wired over Wi-Fi — Wi-Fi is a reported cause of intermittent content-delivery failures. Check ⚙ SETTINGS → Network → Network Status: it must show a working connection before you touch server settings.

Clock is set

⚙ SETTINGS → System → Time → Clock Set. A wrong date/time is a documented cause of registration failure, and the Player won't run without a clock at all.

On the screen

Enter the server address

⚙ SETTINGS → Network → Server Network Settings → Connect to server

On this model the server settings live under Network, not System. Ignore Embedded Server Settings in the same menu — that is an unrelated local-web-server feature (port 4000), not MagicInfo.

Address gets the bare IP, Port gets 7001 — separate fields

Address: 192.168.x.x only — no http://, no :7001, no /MagicInfo, no capital letters. Port: 7001. Leave the TLS option off for a plain-HTTP server; TLS switches everything to port 7002 and requires a valid certificate.

Save, then watch the bottom-left corner

There is no "connected" banner. Success is a small toast reading "Clock adjusted" (the screen syncing time from the server) in the bottom-left. If nothing appears, re-check address and port character by character — typos are the #1 reported failure cause.

Set MagicInfo Mode → Lite (same menu)

Server Network Settings → MagicInfo Mode → Lite. Screens talk Premium by default and the console will say "Not enough licenses" — Lite is what the 25 free licenses cover.

Switching the mode resets the server address to 127.0.0.1. After changing the mode, go back into Connect to server and re-enter the IP and port, then confirm the "Clock adjusted" toast again.
In the console

Approve the screen

Log in as the admin account

Only general-administrator accounts have approval rights — a restricted operator account won't even see the button.

Device → Unapproved → tick the QM65C → Approve

Fill the dialog: device name, group, location. Approving several identical screens at once names them name_(1), name_(2)…

Trust the Unapproved list, not the dashboard tile

MagicINFO 9 has a known role-dependent bug where the dashboard's unapproved count disagrees with the real list. If the dashboard says 0, still open Device → Unapproved and look.

No license left? Claim the free ones

Administration → License — the table starts as "No data"; use the Free License button to claim the 25 Lite licenses (screenshots on the server install page).

Back on the screen

Switch playback to the server

Home → Features → MagicInfo — then ■ Stop if something is playing

Same launch behavior as USB mode: MagicInfo starts playing immediately; ■ Stop lands you on the Player screen.

Select Network Channel

This is the switch from local playback to server-fed content. Once a channel is published from the console, it appears here; until then the tile says "No channels".

Verify with the Schedule screen

Home → Features → Schedule shows Server Status top-right. "Not connected" there = the address/port step failed. INFO during Network Channel playback shows connection state too.

Connected but showing nothing? That's the most time-wasting trap: the screen is fine, it's just still on local playback or no channel is deployed to it. Check, in order — ① Player is on Network Channel, ② a schedule is actually published to this device's group in the console, ③ http://<server-ip>:7001/MagicInfo opens from a laptop or phone on the screen's network segment (proves the firewall rule and routing).
